Going with five stars. Returned for a special event. Had the Cesar, the New York, Mac and cheese, and broccolini. Everything was superb. New York precisely medium rare and seasoned to perfection. Mac and cheese al dente booming with flavor without being overly cheesed or oily. Broccolini perfect. None of the dishes required any further seasoning or sauces. I explained my wine preferences waiter and he paired perfectly with a Malbec that added to but did not over power the surrounding flavors . Pricey, but worth it. Will return for more special occasions.
Had the pleasure of dining here for the first time in the private room, and the experience was great. The numerous appetizers we shared were all good, such as the oysters, scallops, and bone marrow. The popovers were a crowd favorite. Most of us had steak, with a few folks sharing tomahawks or the porterhouse. The steaks were fantastic. Service was great the entire time, and they so kindly treated us to desserts on the house for the graduation and birthday we were celebrating. Would absolutely consider returning for another special occasion in the future.
Really delicious steaks. Had the rib eye. The mushroom and broccolini sides perfectly complemented the steak. FYI- the ambiance is quite dark and gets very loud. It was bustling on a weekday night. I had an amazing experience here!
It was my second time to Arthur J and I went not just because they have amazing steak, but their ice cream sundae is so crave able. Some people hear ice cream sundae and may think "how special can an ice cream sundae be?" I am telling you, this is going to be the best ice cream sundae of your life. You get coldness from the ice cream, warmness from the chocolate fudge, savoriness from the peanut, extra punch from the amaretto cherries, fluffiness from the whip cream, subtle bitter notes from the banana brûlée, and this extra crunch thing that taste light like a puff rice, but looks like a granola. Whatever it is, it is amazing and I go chasing after it in every bite. Each time I get a bite of the crunchy rice puff or whatever it is, I feel like I've scored. The banana by the way is the perfect ripeness. All these combined is a palate orgasm. Sad to think that no ice cream sundae will ever be as good as this one, but the good news is Arthur J still has it on the menu so I'm going to enjoy it as much as possible. Time to treat yourself to an ice cream sundae!
Two years ago, my wife took me to The Arthur J for my birthday, and we absolutely loved it. Fast forward two years later, and I decided to return to celebrate my wife's birthday, as she was craving a great steak on her special day. Once again, The Arthur J did not disappoint! The service was top-notch, the ambiance was perfect, and the food was delicious. To top it off, we got seated at the exact same booth we had for my birthday two years ago. It felt like fate, and the staff even joked that we should name the booth after ourselves! Our server was friendly and efficient, constantly checking on us and making excellent recommendations. We started with the French onion soup and steak tartare--both were delicious, with a special sauce on the steak tartare that really stood out. The French onion soup was generously portioned, and they kindly split it into two smaller bowls for us. For mains, my wife ordered the steak sampler, I had the prime rib, and our son enjoyed the Thursday steak frites special for $37, which was definitely a great deal. We also ordered onion rings and creamed spinach as sides. Everything was cooked to perfection, and we left the restaurant absolutely stuffed. The little touches made the night extra special. The staff surprised my wife with a dessert dish complete with a candle and even sang "Happy Birthday" to her. There was also a birthday card waiting on our table, signed by all the staff. These thoughtful details really made the evening memorable. Overall, 5 stars all around! The Arthur J is a fantastic spot in Manhattan Beach to celebrate a loved one's birthday. We can't wait to return!
Loved the food - absolutely delicious! We (party of 4) ordered the tomahawk, scallops and popovers. Our waiter was too kind and was a little worried we didn't have enough food, so brought us fries on the house. :) All of the food was all great. The popovers did taste a little burnt (?) not sure if that's the intention. The scallops were flavorful and lentils added a different texture! The tomahawk was good but didn't actually stand out in comparison with the appetizers (there was quite a bit of fat on some of the pieces). The staff were attentive and offered drink recommendations throughout the meal! The restaurant was nice inside and the atmosphere was a bit louder than I expected, but comfortable enough to hold conversations in. We did have a bit of a wait even with a late reservation. Since it was a bit wet out, we tried to wait indoors near the bar (it's pretty crowded, so it's alright but not the easiest place to wait). I would definitely return! This place is great for date night or any special event! It's a little small inside, so I'd definitely recommend a reservation! There is metered parking nearby :)
